ADHD and Autism: Medication Considerations for Therapists
1 hr 45 min
This training invites therapists and other non-medical mental health providers to explore how psychiatric medication can support ADHD and autistic individuals when approached through a neurodiversity-affirming and collaborative lens. Rather than centering on “symptom reduction,” we’ll look at how medications influence attention, energy regulation, executive functioning, and sensory processing—and how these experiences may differ across neurotypes.
Participants will gain a clear understanding of how ADHD medications work, common misconceptions about stimulants and other psychotropic medications, and existing evidence on dietary changes and supplements related to mental health. We’ll also discuss considerations unique to autistic clients, including managing co-occurring challenges and recognizing differences in medication response.
This course offers practical, concrete guidance for discussing medication with clients while staying within scope of practice. You’ll learn how to navigate conversations with prescribers, evaluate benefit versus side effects, and support clients in making informed, self-directed choices about their care. The goal is to move beyond the medical model and instead consider medication as one of many tools that can help individuals access stability, curiosity, and connection on their own terms.

Psychedelics and Autism/ADHD: Neural Networks, Sensory Experience, and Unmasking the Authentic Self
1 her 45 min
This training explores how psychedelics interact with the unique neurobiology of ADHD and autistic minds. We’ll look at emerging research on the default mode, salience, and fronto-parietal networks, and how altered connectivity in these systems may shape the psychedelic experience. Beyond theory, we’ll examine how autistic and ADHD individuals often describe sensory amplification, pattern perception, and embodied awareness during psychedelic states—and how these experiences can connect to identity, healing, and the process of unmasking.
Rooted in a neurodiversity-affirming and harm-reduction framework, this course invites reflection on how clinicians can support autistic and ADHD clients exploring psychedelic-assisted therapy. Together, we’ll consider how to hold space for curiosity, autonomy, and integration in ways that honor difference rather than pathologize it.

Rewriting the Narrative: Neurodiversity Affirming, Anti-Oppressive Documentation in Mental Health
Clinical documentation is one of the most overlooked ways that systems uphold oppression. The language we use in our notes can unintentionally reinforce ableism, pathologize difference, and replicate harm—especially for neurodivergent, queer, and marginalized clients. This training invites clinicians to pause and examine how documentation practices reflect dominant cultural narratives, and how we can instead use them as tools for advocacy and liberation.
This course explores the impact of traditional documentation models, identify ways to transform notes and treatment plans into affirming, humanizing narratives, and practice integrating neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed language into real-world clinical examples. The goal is not perfection, but awareness and intention—reclaiming documentation as a space that centers dignity, autonomy, and authentic voice.
